I think the only thing the OP is guilty of is not considering players from other parts of the world. His desire for a more typical european medievil/fantasy setting is one I also share.
We were shown how fantastic the game could be with Pre-Searing, and even the shiverpeaks would fit this sterotype fantasy setting. I have real a lot of fantasy books, and seen a lot of genre films, which I love, so I for one would be delighted if chapter four would be a more "traditional" fantasy setting from a european (or even american) point of view.
I disagree. Fantasy Medieval Europe has been done so many times in so many games, books and movies...it's just dull now. If I wanted to see trees and cows I'd look out my window - exploring the exotic is so much more engaging. Besides, the original classes are Eurocentric already ('cept he monk), even if they were only in a European setting for a little while.

Whichever historical culture is emulated in Chapter 4, I hope that it's not a prequel, whether pre-Searing Ascalon or anywhere else. It should remain in the game series' current timeline.
Personally, I hope that Chapter 4 starts off in one of the current lands, but then quickly shifts to a newly-rediscovered Orr (to thwart a newly-risen danger there or somesuch).
even tho im asian, i must admit factions was a joke... it was hella rushed EXCEPT FOR THE ASSASSIN which has dragged me into these gw chapters to improve him on and on.
The beggining of factions was truely asian themed and well put, after you left the training island, everything looks liike it was rushed, nothing like asia
The Western European-like medieval setting (as was shown in Pre-Searing Ascalon) would be interesting for Chapter 4 as well, though I'd hope that it'd be a brand new land within the gameworld rather than a prequel.
I seriously doubt that it would be boring considering the interesting storylines and storytelling that the previous three Guild Wars Chapters have had (which are credited more to ArenaNet's writers than to any particular pseudo-historical setting). And it doesn't matter to me that "other games have already had a similar medieval setting", since "other games" are irrelevant to me when discussing Guild Wars.
I don't think there's any racism there. Anyway, I agree. I don't necessarily want a new chapter with it, but I wanna restore ascalon! It's true, I always felt it was the most relaxing place in Guild Wars. Everything about it was great... I just wish I could take my fave char back there now.... *and pwn some charr* Wizard's Island is nice, but it isn't enough...
I love presear as well, but part of its charm is that it is lost. Let me tell you about California. When I was a kid there were rolling hills, oak trees and wildflowers as far as you could see. Then progress happened and those things are gone and under thousands of houses. For me presearing is like my childhood. Fond memories and sweetness, but you can't go back. In a way its like searing is how you grow up. You leave the safety of your home and go explore, but you always remember where you came from. They really did a good job of that with prophecies.
I think by "home," he meant Ascalon. If you're playing Tyrian chars, pre-searing Ascalon is like "home."
And I think the Civil War ref was to Prophecies also, but I'm not sure I'd call it a "civil" war, seeing as how it was ascalonians vs. charr, but... oh well.
The "no one feels at home in Factions unless you're Asian" thing may have been a little on the line there, but did he mean an Asian character or Asian player? I guess it was kind of vague.
Factions just rushed everything and I don't need to mention the storyline. While it was a great concept, it wasn't presented well. No one in America, inless your Asian, in my opinion that is, could feel Factions as a "home" theme enviroment.
I'm American. I'm as white as they come. I prefer the look and feel of Factions to that of Prophecies. There are 3 billion European themed RPGs out there. Kings, Castles, Knights and Dragons. It has been done and done and redone. Factions feels different. Nightfall felt different when I played the preview weekend. What I love about the expansions is NCsoft is making an effort to do something interesting and different with their storylines (yes, I find the Factions storyline thus far to be outstanding. What Ive played of Prophecies is simply more of the same of what Ive seen in every other RPG since time began. Another game following the tried and true D&D/Tolkien mantra. I don't infer anything blatantly racist in your statements, but I pity your apparent lack of interest in other cultures. I do not know where they will go with the next expansion, I hope it proves as surprising as the two they have already done have proven to be.
