Farmageddon: Needs More Scarabs
Posted 9th Mar 2010 05:25 PM by Malhavoc Adhamar

Hey all

Must have done something right with last weeks blog since I’m back. Once again I’m taking a look at what’s been going on in the land of Guild Wars and continuing on with the speculation of Guild Wars 2’s World vs World PvP format. Hopefully won’t be much longer till I’m having a look at the previous week’s battles but until then speculation will just have to see us through. Anyway onwards with this week’s blog and feel free to leave comments, criticisms or even a friendly poke with a stick.

The woes of small chests
Posted 8th Mar 2010 12:52 PM by Gorani

gwblog02

No, I am sorry. This is not about the envy of female Assassins when they stand next to Elementalists or the notorious Rit in Shing Jae armour. This is about the small locked chests that are scattered around Tyria and that nobody ever opens.

Having done the treasure hunter title myself, I have to admit that the only way to even come close to…

Hard Mode and how it is
Posted 6th Mar 2010 11:40 PM by altoids

Well, I have to say, Hard mode is quite hard if you’re unprepared. Sometimes just slightly tweeking you’re builds and your hero’s builds could make all the difference. Take this example, I tried doing Vizunah Square in Hard Mode and got completely destroyed every time, the only way I was able to beat it was to run a dual discording necromancers on both parties. We ripped right through it. I have to say Discord is probably way overrated and everyone has one, but I have to say, its quite a nice set up. Sabway is a nice setup as well.

http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page Check this website out for all build advice, if you don’t know what Discordway is or Sabway, go here and type it in! I’ve really benefited from this.

Sorry this entry is very short, I’m a little slow on Brain Juices today! :3

Beware, usage may create a dependency. I use pvx as a learning tool, but I try to make up my own builds…

Think Synergy
Posted 5th Mar 2010 05:28 PM by Alaris

Goal-seeking becomes far easier when you think synergistically. Here’s a few advice, in the context of titles and GW goals, that you may find yourself applying in real life. Synergy is a neat term to describe cases where the whole (end result) is greater than the sum of its parts (actions). If you’re thinking hitting two birds with one stone, you’re on the right track (although why the aggression towards birds, I don’t know). The current blog entry deals with synergy in titles, with friends, and with real-life.

Another synergy thing: Are you doing those easy zquest missions like Chabbek, Cho’s and Jokanur?…

Of Breadsticks and Misty Battlefields
Posted 2nd Mar 2010 07:14 AM by Malhavoc Adhamar

Hey all.

Quick introduction time for those who don’t know me. I’m Mal and have been playing Guild Wars for near enough four and a half years now, as well as being a member/mod of GWO for about the same time. Mostly I play as a Ranger of the same name and can usually be found lounging around Lion’s Arch. For those who do know me: Yes I am blogging and no the Ring of Fire islands haven’t frozen over.

Being known for my notoriously bad pings, I have to say that massive lag is something I’m not looking…

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue
Posted 1st Mar 2010 12:43 PM by Gorani

My fellow blogger Alaris first thought I want to write about my marriage to the game, when I told him about this blogs title (or perhaps he thought I had licked too many Hylek toads). This blog entry isn’t about marriage. *smile* Last week I announced that I want to write about stuff that will help keep me (and you) playing an aging game. Using the headline as an inspiration, this section will start now:

You misunderstood me, I thought you were talking about *my* marriage to the game! lol Old: definitely…

Saving? Farming???? WHAT?!
Posted 27th Feb 2010 10:09 PM by altoids

Hey guys its Toaster here as in (Pyre Moonfox, or Toaster Goes Para). Anyways, after the recent farming nerf, my guild and I were discussing new ways to farm, and how we could still use Shadow Form. Some of the ways we came up with (although it doesn’t work in FoW, we tried) is a 55monk/Assassin. Except running Shadow Form. Since it has a damage reduction of 5 and with how the 55 works, where you only take 5 damage due to Protective Spirit we figured… WE COULD MAKE A MONK SUPER TANK!!!!!!! But Alas it doesn’t work in the Fissure of Woe anyways. My friend discovered a way to use an Assassin to still Raptor farm with Shadow Form

When speaking of Farming, reminds me of the days way back when I only owned Proph. and I had no way of making money! (At this time, all I had was a Necro named Necro Buddie, and a Warrior named The Brave Lil Tostr). So after begging, because I was so poor and I have bad habits of buying stuff, (Still do) someone showed me how to farm… It was a basic farm, held to about 400-500g and some drops but it was a completely changed how I got money, for I was never an avid farmer but it got me to think about what I WANT and what I should STRIVE for.

That’s what I think everyone in Guild Wars should do, look for something to strive for, something they want to have. Like lets take myself for example: I am a complete armor freak. That’s all I really want is armor. I currently own 11 Elite Armor sets, from Elite Luxon, to Elite Kurzick, to Elite Cathan, and into NightFall elite armors such as Ancient and Primeval. I strive for armor and when I have nothing to do, I’ll remember… “Hey! I want _____ I should go save for it!”

Personally, I know that Guild Wars can sometimes get dull, and you just sit there not knowing what to do, and you just don’t want to play. I’ve been there, spending plenty of hours doing absolutely nothing., but I have to say, wanting something and going for it has kept me interested in the game when it is dull and boring. So find something to save for!! It’s good for you! wink

I love armors, titles, and stuffing my HoM. Yes, I am a GW shopaholic. Though I try to stay away from…

Surviving the nerf
Posted 26th Feb 2010 06:58 PM by Alaris

Today, ANet gave us one of the largest farming nerfs in a long time… with many skills affected. It may take some time before the dust settles, players get their wits about them, and pvx gets the update. Be sure however that resourceful players will find ways to do runs, farms, and yes, speedbookings. Some runs may never be possible again though… but it’s too early to tell. I’d like to ask a simple question… what now? And by now, I mean this weekend, which gives double reputation for Kurzick and Luxon titles. I hope that those who found good ways to gain faction will share them below.

The reason for the update wasn’t farming, it was all the dungeon running these builds could do…
